With BlizzConline (the online version of BlizzCon) coming in a few weeks, fans and players alike expect to know when to release some of the most anticipated titles from Blizzard such as Overwatch 2 or Diablo IV. In a meeting on the company’s earnings however, they were given information that the community expected below but it still hurts a little to hear. While no one expected Diablo IV to launch this year, Overwatch 2 is a whole other story, and it looks like it won’t be released in 2021 either. Diablo IV blew everyone away at BlizzCon over a year ago. but it clearly has a long way to go before it’s released. The developers also wanted to curb expectations and were pretty clear that it will take some time before we can return to the bowels of hell. To all those who expected it this year, do not worry because Diablo Immortal could prove to be a pretty good taste before the main dish made of damnation and demons. Obviously, many people are looking for a Diablo PC experience outside of the mobile sphere, but we hope to have a chance to find out more about what is coming in terms of content and mechanics for Diablo IV at this year’s Digital Blizzcon.

Overwatch 2 is another story. Despite the slowdowns in development due to the pandemic, Overwatch 2 seemed in a much more “ready for release” form”At the latest BlizzCon, showing finished co-op missions and a new PVP mode. We know that for many companies, the move to work from home has brought with it many challenges that have impacted the development of video games. The news about the postponement took fans by surprise leaving them disappointed and embittered. There hasn’t been any new content coming to Overwatch in over a year, and the competitive scene needs to freshen up the meta. BlizzConline will be an opportunity to let players know what’s going on with Overwatch 2, as there is no release this year. While this news may come as a shock to some, we’re hoping Overwatch will receive new updates as the development of the sequel continues. BlizzConline will showcase everything Blizzard has in the works from February 19th to 20th.
