The reference “business to business” event for the gaming industry at national level will take place next July 1st and 2nd in hybrid format.
IIDEA, the Association representing the video game industry in Italy, announces the third edition of ‘First Playable’. Given the persistence of the health emergency due to Covid-19, it will be a digital and physical event, organized as in previous occasions in collaboration with Toscana Film Commission. The aim of the event is to connect Italian development studios with international publishers looking for ideas and talents, for the most important business opportunity for the national gaming industry. As part of the appointment also the presentation of the candidacies of the Italian Video Games Awards 2021 (IVGA).
The event that in the past edition saw the participation of over 70 Italian development studios, who have had the opportunity to connect with 50 of the most important video game publishers and international investors from 14 different countries. A giant business accelerator therefore, it has grown exponentially in the past two editions, which is positioned as the key event for the Italian industry.
Rich in content and opportunities, ‘First Playable’ includes, among other activities, a preparatory coaching session for developers called ‘Ready to Pitch’, in which Edward Valiente, an international professional with over 20 years of experience serving international first-party publishers and micro-developers, will provide advice and suggestions on how to best propose projects and ideas.
‘First Playable’ will experience its highlight in the pitching sessions, which in 2020 recorded over 260 meeting hours where Italian developers had the opportunity to tell international publishers about their projects in a unique opportunity for many companies.
The matchmaking activity will also be managed by the partner for this year MeetToMatch, a Dutch company leader in the planning and management of B2B digital events in the video game sector.
The event also features a talk program on top business issues by selected guests and partners through the “Più Compagnia” platform, the ‘virtual room’ of Toscana Film Commission.
Also within the two days, the live broadcast dedicated to the Italian Video Game Awards (IVGA) is scheduled, with the assignment of prizes for the best national videogame productions. The ceremony will be held in live streaming from ‘Museum of Ancient Ships’ of Pisa, housed within the majestic halls and spans of the Medici Arsenals, on the Pisan Lungarno. The goal is to combine and unite in a common thread of communication a contemporary and in many ways futuristic world such as that of video games with a world of ancient archeology that recalls navigation and discovery.
These are the 5 award categories whose finalists and winners will be selected by a jury made up of 8 international journalists and professionals:
o Best Italian Game: award for the best Italian video game.
o Best Italian Debut Game: award for the best Italian debut film.
o Best Innovation: award for the most innovative Italian video game.
o Outstanding Individual Contribution: award to the single Italian professional who has best distinguished himself at national and / or international level.
o Outstanding Italian Company: award for the Italian development studio that has most distinguished itself nationally and / or internationally.
