The former Formula 1 driver will continue to support his old team. Thanks to e-sports, Grosjean and his R8G Esports team will collaborate with Haas ahead of the F1 Esports Pro Series.
A second chance. After the serious accident suffered in Bahrain, which gave rise to the idea of leaving Formula 1, Romain Grosjean will continue to work with the Haas stable in another capacity. The French driver, in fact, will manage through his team R8G Esports the operations related to electronic sports of the American team.
“I am very happy – admitted Grosjean – to manage the entry of the Uralkali Haas team this year in the F1 Esports Pro Series. Esports is a growing sector and for a year I think our team has been doing very well. For me, being able to help Haas F1 in this field and racing together is an immense satisfaction ”.
R8G Esports was founded in April 2020 in the midst of the pandemic, but has already developed into a fearsome academy for racing talent. Up to this point it has achieved altogether 45 wins and can rely on 17 pro sim pilots and five junior pilots. Grosjean, therefore, will be able to make his experience in the automotive field available to all virtual drivers. “I believe that this adventure can continue in the best possible way. I can not wait to start. I’m curious to see what results we will be able to achieve in esports competitions ”.
A lot of satisfaction also in the words of Guenther Steiner. For the Haas Team Principal this is an opportunity not to be missed and having Grosjean’s experience can be a determining factor. “I am happy – admitted Steiner himself – to be able to use the experience of the R8G Esports team to supervise our participation in the F1 Esports Pro Series. This is an important step for us in terms of engagement compared to previous seasons. We know we are partnering with a group that truly understands the needs of the environment and it can help take our program to the next level ”.
