A new season of Fortnite is upon us and the story also delves even deeper into the narrative that embraces the multiverse of battle royale.
Epic Games officially launched season 6 of the second chapter of the game, that is nicknamed “Fury”. It takes place immediately after the “Zero Crisis Finale” which concluded season 5 and introduces a new prehistoric look on the island. When players start playing the season for the first time, they will be greeted by a short film, which you can watch below, to which follows a single player adventure short but intense in which the player will have to help Agent Jonesy to try to save reality.
This new setting includes an imposing spire in the center of the island – right where the zero point explosion of the fifth season took place – surrounded by a village and other new locations, which replace last season’s alien desert. Perhaps the most significant novelty is that wild animals now roam the island, including wolves, wild boars, and seemingly more harmless creatures like chickens and frogs. Along with these additions is a new crafting mechanic that allows players to build improvised weapons, such as arches, with resources recovered from hunted wildlife and collected technology.
Furthermore, those who purchase the battle pass they can expect the usual assortment of new skins and other cosmetic items to unlock. This time it includes the premium track includes characters related to the current story, such as Agent Jones, as well as the mysterious “Spire Assassin” and Raz, described as a “hunter of the mysteries of the jungle”. Of course, it wouldn’t be Fortnite without the classic tie-ins of the most famous pop culture characters. This season they come in the form of skins Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, Teen Titans’ Raven and, at some point in the future, Brazilian soccer star Neymar.
Fortnite’s previous season has started last December with an impressive live event which crowned its Marvel-themed storyline. The crossover turned out to be the biggest event in the game to date. However, season 5 will likely be remembered for the huge number of licensed tie-ins, ranging from The Mandalorian to professional sports. Those looking to delve a little deeper into Fortnite’s ever-changing lore can too take a look at an upcoming Batman crossover comic.
