Netflix is making one anime series based on the hugely popular video game from Valve Dota 2. The series will be of 8 episodes, will be entitled Dota: Dragon’s Blood, will be launched on March 25 and the first trailer is available below. “The fantasy series tells the story of Davion, a mighty Dragon Knight dedicated to erasing the scourge from the face of the world ”, reads a Netflix press release. “Following encounters with a powerful, ancient, eldwurm and with the noble princess Mirana on a secret mission of his, Davion gets involved in events far greater than he could ever have imagined ”.
The drawings and animations for the show will be made by Studio MIR, which produced The Legend of Korra and Voltron: Legendary Defender also for Netflix. Dota 2 isn’t the only free-to-play MOBA that will have its own TV show. Riot Games is working on an animated series set in the League of Legends universe called Arcane.

For years Riot has released beautiful short films animated and music videos and now the company is expanding with a complete animated series set in the LoL universe. It’s called Arcane, it’s produced by the publisher’s internal studios and will be available this year. Here is a brief synopsis of the plot: “Set in the utopian Piltover and in the oppressed undergrounds of Zaun, the story follows the origins of two iconic League of Legends champions and the power that will turn them into heroes. ”The show has been postponed from its original release date and now is scheduled to come out this year.
